What Stratford housing means for your carpets
Stratford is the one area we cover where the usual East London assumptions do not apply. Most of what we clean here is purpose-built apartments, many of them less than fifteen years old, and almost none of it sits on original floorboards.
That removes our biggest normal worry. There is no gap between boards for moisture to find, and no downstairs neighbour to soak through to. What replaces it is a drying problem of a different kind. New flats are sealed and well insulated, with small windows that sometimes only tilt, and airflow across a floor is much harder to create than in a draughty terrace. A carpet in a tenth-floor flat with the windows locked shut can take noticeably longer to dry than the same carpet in a Victorian house, which is the opposite of what people expect.
Underfloor heating is common here and it helps, but only if it is actually on. If you have it, turning it on before we arrive and leaving it on afterwards makes a real difference to drying time. It is the single most useful thing you can do.
The other Stratford pattern is where the carpet is. Many of these flats have hard flooring through the living area and hallway, with carpet only in the bedrooms. That usually means a smaller job than the floor plan suggests, and it is worth telling us the room count rather than the flat size when you ask for a price.

Parking and access in E15 and E20
Parking around the Olympic Park and the town centre is tightly managed and mostly paid, and some developments have no visitor parking at all. If your block has a loading bay or a permitted unloading slot, that is the detail we most need from you.
Where a service lift has to be booked, that is usually done through the concierge or building management rather than by us, and some buildings ask for a day or two of notice. Mentioning it at the point of booking avoids a wasted visit.
For the older terraced streets towards Maryland and the Forest Gate border, it is ordinary residential parking and much simpler.

Do new-build carpets really need deep cleaning?
Eventually, yes, though usually later than people think. A new flat starts clean, and the developer-grade carpet in many of them is a hard-wearing synthetic that hides soil well. The catch is that hiding soil is not the same as not having it. If it has been two years and nobody has taken shoes off, it needs doing.
My flat has underfloor heating. Is wet cleaning safe?
Yes. The heating sits below the floor construction, not in the carpet, and controlled extraction does not put anything near it. If anything it helps, because a warm floor dries a carpet faster.
Why did my last clean take all day to dry?
Most likely airflow rather than water volume. A sealed modern flat with tilt windows has very little natural air movement, and a carpet dries by evaporation. Opening everything you can and running the underfloor heating changes it substantially.
Is it worth it before a short-let changeover?
For a heavily used short let, regular cleaning keeps the carpet serviceable for years longer than leaving it. For a changeover between two guests tomorrow, a full deep clean may not dry in time and a targeted spot treatment is the more sensible call.
